Period Property

English listed buildings & other period property

When considering remedial treatment to period property, special consideration should be given to the recommendations for work, as there are limitations and legal restrictions on what work may or may not be carried out, and what materials may or may not be used.

English Heritage has strict guidelines on the remedial treatment of listed property, and this is usually enforced by the local Listed Building Inspector or Conservation Officer.

It can be a criminal offence to carry out unauthorised work to a listed building without the correct consultation on the long term effect of the work on the fabric of the property.
